CREATIONS BY MARIE ANTOINETTE & EDIE MARIE

Welcome to our Team Blog! Marie Antoinette & Edie Marie have joined together to create a fun place to share our ideas and lives with all of you. We know that our teaming up has been confusing for some of you and we apologize. We will refer to ourselves as Marie Antoinette (the Doll Creator & maker of fabulous items) who lives in Peacock Paradise and Edie Marie (the creator of the posts and story telling on this blog & amateur crafter of many things in my "attic") who lives on Golden Pond. What great fun we have combining our forces!!

Thank you for stopping by to see what's happening in our studios in Peacock Paradise and on Golden Pond!

It's Not Just A Lampshade...

 not anymore!
Don't toss those old lampshade frames
out... they're a new craze in upscale
decor these days.

The white frames on white lamps look
so tres chic with these old books.
What do you bet they spray painted
the lamps and the shades...
the rainbow is at your fingertips!

Skona Hem Magazine - Sweden

This is so adorable!
Who'd a thunk??
Some place for all those faux birdies
to lite that have been nesting
in your drawer!

Mathieu Challieres

And why is it MY mind can't contrive
such great ideas with such simple things?
A lampshade frame and a candle...
I hate when my mouth gapes open in
pure disbelief and awe!

Google search

Look how they've just added some
silky fringe to the bottom edge of
these shades and used a large round bulb.
I'd love to eat in this darling bistro...
wonder what's on the menu.
French? Italian?

Here they've sewn on whatever was in
the scrap pile it looks like and it turned
out quite interesting.

Look what Antropologie has to
offer. All kinds of shapes.

You can wrap the wire frame with ribbon
or fabric if you want a special look.

This is a nice inspiration of what I
wanted to try to do in my Studio...
Pinterest

so I dug out an old lampshade with a
dry rotted fabric on it and did some surgery!
The demo work was quite enjoyable
I must say.

I hung the "naked" shade from a plant
hook in the ceiling with some lightweight
chain and "S" hooks.  Easy enough.

Marie had made me a darling fru-fru ball
from vintage pattern tissue and peacock
feathers that fit perfectly up in
the top of the shade.

I needed a place to display the
gorgeous Marie Antoinette shoe that
Marie made for me so it's spotlighted
in the center of the shade.

Then I put leftover drapery rings w/clips
on each of the shoes from the
Marie Antoinette Shoe Swap
and hung them around the edge with
ribbons and such.

It will be a great place to put those
snippets of ribbons we can't bear
to toss and sparkly Christmas
ornaments too pretty to pack away.

Now I have a wonderful place to hang those
darling little items that I love to see in
my Studio. I had some tiny crystals
that I hung from fishing line too.
The cost: $0.00!
WOO-HOO!!

My friend "Kitty" found three incredible
old lampshades in her attic and now has
a new hanging chic decor in the corner
of her awesome front porch.
She had a problem with glue that wouldn't
come off on one so she just spray painted
all of them to give them a unifying effect.
Cost: $0.00!
(I'm seeing a pattern here)

I found lots of ideas on Pinterest.
(yes I LOVE Pinterest - too much)

Here's a photo holder...

a photo/memo holder using a drum
shade on a lazy susan...

a table...

a plant stand...

a planter made from a
shade covered in chicken wire...

a hanging planter,
just add chain, chicken wire and moss...

a shade with strands of buttons...

crocheted pieces for a Boho look...

and even different laces stretched
around and sewn together -
so cute for a dressing table or
a little girls room.

I even found this hanging
lamp idea from Ikea on Pinterest
that would be so easy to recreate
with the right lampshade frame.

Hope we put a new "light" on that old
tattered lampshade you've got
stashed in the back of your closet!!

Get it out and start creating!

Well back to my studio in the "attic" -
blessings til next time...

Fabulous Daaaling, Simply Fabulous!

I have some beautiful things to show
you today!

I have a new t-shirt that I created and
would like to share with you.
It involves my favorite lady icon of course,
Marie Antoinette!

I came across this picture of Marie
for a Coke ad and thought it would
be perfect on a shirt.

WOULD things have gone better with Coke??
Well they couldn't have gone any worse.

I just LOVE how it turned out.
It's kinda "casual chic"!

And I just bet you spied the
most gorgeous brooch ever
on my new shirt...

a birthday gift from Julie Marie
@ Idyllehours. Julie is such a dear friend
and it was so sweet of her to send me
this gorgeous pin!
Thank you so much Julie!

I've been busy in my studio.
You KNOW it's been way too hot in the
south to do only the necessities outdoors.
So I've taken some time to create a
new Theater Doll...
The Peacock Theater Doll.

I had so much fun designing and making her!
She's holding a birdcage in one hand
(which contains a tiny nest and eggs
and has an itty bitty key dangling from it)
and her other hand holds up her dress
and the peacock fan made of very
small peacock feathers.

The "Theater" scene mimics  the
doll and is full of beautiful scenery
thanks to Rhonda of Rhonda's Originals

I had so much fun designing her hat,
complete with a peacock peering out!
You can also see her tiny cameo necklace.

Here's a glance at the back of her gown.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my
newest doll. She'll be going on sale
on my Marie Antionette Etsy.

Stay cool my darlin's
and have yourself a great week!

Marie
XOXO

Hi sweet friends, Edie here!

Just wanted you to see a cute pic of
Marie at her computer...

Now you know what she
"really" looks like! LOL

Til we meet again,
May God bless each one of you,

"Edie"

Surprise Birthday Gifts from Afar

Birthdays are so fun because there's
always some kind of surprise that seems
to appear from the nicest people!

Look at these beautiful things I received
from Celeste @ Celestina Marie Designs
Celeste is the most incredible artist and she
painted a gorgeous swan plate for my
master bathroom. She also painted
this sweet pink rose plate and they
both came with stands
 of their very own!!
And some wonderful "Paris" bath
goodies from Bath & Bodyworks.
I also got the darling candle with roses
for that relaxing candlelit bubble bath
I'm looking forward to in my new tub.

Thank you Celeste from the bottom of
my heart! I LOVE everything!!
You are one of the sweetest ladies I know!

If you're looking for a special gift for that
special loved one look no further...
you can hop over to Celeste's Etsy for
a unique handcrafted item that will
be a sure winner!

*******

More gifts?
I think somebody likes me or something.

This is what my dear friend "Edie"
sent me for my special day...

a bottle that she decorated with
all kinds of bling & fru-fru
(those are technical words)

on both sides
for 2 different looks!

And look at what that ornery gal
sent me...

Yes, you're seeing right...
No.2 by Poo-Pourri!
It included a roll of TP and
a special spray with a saying on
the back, Hmmm, let's look closer at
what it says...

"Spray the Loo Before No.2
and No One Will Ever Have a Clue!"

Well even Hubby got a kick out of that!

So it is proudly perched
on the shelf over my "loo" to be
seen by anyone entering my
master bathroom... LOL!!

I asked "Edie" to recreate one of the
shoes she had made for the
Marie Antoinette Shoe Swap that
we were in and this was in with
my birthday gifts...

with a back finished quite nicely.

Thank you Sherry... I mean "Edie"
for the sweet gifts.
They make me feel so special.

I appreciate all the lovely cards and
other gifts I received and for all
the beautiful comments you left me
wishing me a Happy Birthday!!

God bless each one of you
til we meet again...

Marie
XOXO
