CREATIONS BY MARIE ANTOINETTE & EDIE MARIE

Welcome to our Team Blog! Marie Antoinette & Edie Marie have joined together to create a fun place to share our ideas and lives with all of you. We know that our teaming up has been confusing for some of you and we apologize. We will refer to ourselves as Marie Antoinette (the Doll Creator & maker of fabulous items) who lives in Peacock Paradise and Edie Marie (the creator of the posts and story telling on this blog & amateur crafter of many things in my "attic") who lives on Golden Pond. What great fun we have combining our forces!!

Thank you for stopping by to see what's happening in our studios in Peacock Paradise and on Golden Pond!

My Theater Dolls in The Knights of Columbus Art Show

Recently my Theater Dolls had the
honor of being in a local art show.
It was an exciting event for me to
be a part of!
I was entered into the 3D category and
The experience was a fun one.

I had 3 dolls entered

My Ballet Doll

The Baroque Doll

 and Madelyn the Christmas Doll.

It was fascinating seeing all the different
types of art in the show.

I took some quick snapshots of
the show.

This is the prize winner in the
3d catagory that I was a part of.
These were handmade vintage
Christening Gowns. Very beautiful.

The all around prize winner of the show
was for the painting you see of the Jazz
Musician.

There were lots of interesting entries.

Many different styles of art.

A really exciting thing happened
at the show.
 A lady walked up to
me and said "Well looks like you've
taken the prize of "the most sold" today".
I said "What do you mean?"
She said "You sold all three of your
dolls... to the same buyer
I was in total shock, I didn't have a clue.
She said "AND she's a doll collector and
has over 3000 dolls. Once she likes your
dolls she becomes a repeat buyer."
Once again in total shock.
I was introduced to the buyer
and she wanted to come home with me
 and see my other dolls.
(Thank God I keep the house tidy!)

So she came and browsed through my
studio and spotted some things for
future purchases.
I looked at her hubby at one point and
said quietly "I'm sorry", in a kidding way.
He replied "That's okay, I'll just build
around them!" What a sweet thing to say
It was lots of fun being a part of a
art show and meeting new people.

****************

I've also had a recent sale of one of my
paper peacocks...

to a gal that wanted to transform it
into a mask.

She sent me some photos of what she created.

 Amazing isn't it?

 What a creative artsy costume!

     They make a lovely couple!
Hope she won a prize for BEST MASK
EVER!!

Well that's all from my little studio
for now.

Remember the HOLIDAYS are FAST
approaching and we have some
fine Etsy Shops on our sidebar for
you to click on and browse.
You might find that perfect gift that
everyone will "Oooo and Aaaah" over!

Hope you're having a wonderful Fall.

Love you all!
Marie xoxo

There's a New Etsy Shoppe In Town!

Introducing a new Etsy shop...

EdieMariesAttic on Etsy

This shop is "Edie's" shop, some of you
know her as Sherry.

She's selling handmade upcycled handbags
that she calls "Pretty Pockets".
They're made from old blue jeans that
would end up in the landfill but still have
some life in their parts...
what adorable pockets and labels
some jeans have! So she decided to save
them from destruction and give them
new life as little shoulder bags.

Great for tossing your wallet in, to
run to the store or when going to your
favorite flea market.

OR for that hard-to-buy-for teen that
needs a little bag for essentials.

Here's a sample of what's on her Etsy
shop:

The Miss Chic Shoulder Bag

(The fleur de lis is made of leather with a bit
of sparkle and the reverse side has flirty
eyebrow fringe and some blingy crystals.)

The Retro Flower Child Shoulder Bag

(A vintage 60's flower pin and
a charm that says "Be Yourself" -
a great message for a teen!)

The Black & Pink Paris Blues Shoulder Bag

(reverse side - You know if the crown fits wear it!)

The Faded Blue Paris Blues Shoulder Bag

(Blingy charm & old key and a cluster of
vintage buttons - so charming)

Paris Blues Shoulder Bag

(Vintage buttons and blingy charm and old
key dangles from a belt loop on the front -
reverse has pocket and fleur de lis charm,
perfect pocket for a cell phone)

She has vintage souvenir items such as:

A Souvenir North Dakota Scarf

A Souvenir Lake Sebasticook, Maine Scarf

A Souvenir Alaska The "49" State Scarf

A Souvenir Knott's Berry Farms Scarf

She's also in the process of posting vintage
jewelry and other vintage items on
her new etsy this week!

Hope you'll stop by to visit

What Does Bleach, Pinterest and Scissors Have In Common?

We've all done it haven't we?
A couple of leftover drops of chlorine bleach
is mistakenly left on the edge of the washing machine.
A t-shirt happens to touch the bleach as it goes into
the washer and you get instant spots!
I hear you saying "I only use color safe bleach"
but sometimes you just have the old fashioned
Good/Evil Chlorine Bleach on hand when
laundry day rolls around.

Don't throw that t-shirt away
or make rags out of it.
(okay I have to admit I did wear it for a
couple months around the house)
But then I saw this cute craft idea on
none other than Pinterest...
you know, that time-sucking site that gives
you all kinds of ideas to save for later
that you don't have time to use.
So here's one of the ideas I saved on
Pinterest.

1. Spread your t-shirt out nicely on a table
or an ironing board. Cut straight across
under the sleeve area.

2. Use your scissors to cut fringe. Make
the fringe how ever long you want.
Mine was about 4" long with each
piece of fringe about 1/2" wide.

3. Pull each piece of fringe so that
it kind of curls into itself.
At this point you could add beads
here and there on the pieces of fringe
and tie a knot to keep them from
escaping.

Voila!
You have a really interesting
fringed scarf to drape around
a t-shirt.
AND you can say you actually used one
of those saved ideas from Pinterest!

Hope you liked this up-cycle.
How has bleach touched your life?

Have a grand week friends!

Marie & Edie
XOXO
