CREATIONS BY MARIE ANTOINETTE & EDIE MARIE

Welcome to our Team Blog! Marie Antoinette & Edie Marie have joined together to create a fun place to share our ideas and lives with all of you. We know that our teaming up has been confusing for some of you and we apologize. We will refer to ourselves as Marie Antoinette (the Doll Creator & maker of fabulous items) who lives in Peacock Paradise and Edie Marie (the creator of the posts and story telling on this blog & amateur crafter of many things in my "attic") who lives on Golden Pond. What great fun we have combining our forces!!

Thank you for stopping by to see what's happening in our studios in Peacock Paradise and on Golden Pond!

MARIE ANTOINETTE GOES TO THE EIFFEL TOWER!

A fresh morning in Paris!

Destination: The Eiffel Tower
or as the Parisians call it...
la Tour Eiffel!

When I was a little girl, my mom
would allow me to look at her box of
treasures when she would be getting
ready to out with my dad.
I loved to sit on her bed and look
at all the pretty little items.

In it was an old postcard that my uncle
had sent to my dad during WWII.
The picture on the postcard was
of the Eiffel Tower!
I knew immediately I wanted to
go to this place my mom called
"Paris" to see it when I was grownup.
It took me a long time but here I
am... finally!

I am sooo ready.

We hailed a Parisian taxi and away we
went. Can we say Wild Ride?
The traffic is so heavy, so jam packed,
so crazy, I would never recommend
renting a car and trying it.

...

We were actually clinging to each
other as we weaved in and out of
the traffic! LOL Okay it's funny now.

And there it was... suddenly the mayhem
of the ride made way for what I had been
dreaming of since I was a little girl...

the Eiffel Tower!!

What a beauty!

I couldn't stop smiling!

My heart was singing!

It wasn't just a tower.
It was a work of art.

Every detail was incredible.

So up to the top we went for those
breathtaking views of Paris we'd
heard about.

My dapper guy!

Oh la la!
(I said that a lot)

Stairway to heaven.

The view to the southeast is
Champs de Mars -
This long strip of lawn is a public
greenspace between the Eiffel Tower
to the northwest and the Ecole Militare
to the southeast.

The view to the northeast is
Trocadero -
Across the Seine River, it's the
site of the old Palais Chaillot.
This is where all the fabulous
fashion shots are taken with
the Eiffel tower in the background!
(more of Trocadero later)

The Seine River to the right...

and to the left.
You can see Isle of the Swans where the
small 1/4th scale replica of
the Statue of Liberty stands at the
far end of it. She faces our Statue of
Liberty in NYC!

This is my favorite aerial view photo
from the Eiffel tower...
instead of "Where's Waldo" it's
"Where's the Arch de Triomphe"!

Imagine my amazement when we got up
in the famous Eiffel Tower and there
were Souvenir Shops!
Oh how I loved it.

It's time to go down...
oh yes, we took the
"lift" both up and down!!
With age comes wisdom.

***
Well our darling Marie Antoinette was
going to go with us to Paris however
when the terrorist's hit in Paris her hubby
was too apprehensive about letting her go.

Soooo, I took her to Paris my way!

Hanging at the Eiffel Tower
with my sweet sis, Marie!!

 Oreilles de lapin!
(Bunny ears... sounds fancier in French don't you think?)

This was so fun!

Passers-by smiled with that smile that
made us think they wish they would have
thought about doing this type of thing!

***

Father & son time.

Mother & son.

In love at Tour Eiffel!

I

Before we go here's a snapshot of the
carousel across the street from
the Eiffel Tower. We didn't ride on
it... seeing it was magical enough.

Thanks for joining our Eiffel Tower
experience. There's more to come
of the Eiffel and oh so much more.

And especially thanks for joining us
for the Marie photo shoot!
(you looked tres chic dahhhling!!)

Bisous & blessings,
Edie Marie

A DREAM COME TRUE!

One morning I woke up and I was in...

PARIS!!!

After a long taxi ride from
Charles De Gaulle Airport
we arrived at our hotel in the
Saint Lazare area of Paris which
is in arrondissement 9.

We stayed at Hotel Londres & New York.

It was located across from the Saint Lazare
Train Station or in French,
Saint Lazare Gare.

We were in love with our little
French window that overlooked
Rue de Havre. It was so entertaining
just sitting by the window looking
at the fabulous architecture of each
building and "people watching".

Passage du Havre was a very handy
little shopping mall...
right across the street!!
Tres bien!!

Our favorite morning cafe,
Cafe le Saint Lazare, with the
red awning. We could look out our window
and see if there were tables available.
(More on that later.)

The Saint Lazare Train Station.

Of course this was the best view as far
as I was concerned,
my darling handsome hubby!

Moi, after many many hours of travel
but so happy to be in Paris!

My first cafe experience was at
the Triadou Haussmann Cafe.
Sitting at a table on the sidewalk
is such a wonderful way to dine in Paris.

Our handsome son & wife went with us
to Paris. They had been to Paris before
and knew lots of the "ropes".
Here he is toasting me with French
champagne, but of course!!

This was at L' Arcade Haussman for dessert...

the best creme brulee I've ever had!

I could not get enough of the
architecture of the buildings that
were our backdrop while dining.
It was like being in an old French movie.

Each one has it's own personality!

Near one of the cafes was
a sweet little intercity park,
complete with tall wrought iron fence,
that took up a whole block.

We ventured in to take a peek.

There were people sitting on
park benches chatting & reading.
(But I refrained from photographing
them without their permission since
I didn't know how to say "May I
take your photo?") It was a quiet
intimate atmosphere there.

In the center was a building that
was closed but was a type of
memorial from what we could tell.

The sign read:

I was so excited when I saw her name...
Marie Antoinette!

This was the
Chapelle expiatoire.
This chapel is dedicated to
King Louis XVI
&
Queen Marie Antoinette,

The chapel was partly built on grounds of
the former Madeleine Cemetery where
Louis & Marie were originally buried
after they were guillotined. They are
formally buried at Basilica of St Denis today.

Although we could not see the inside I
 found photos of it.

This little treasure is located at
29 rue Pasquier
8th arrondissement
Paris France

I wanted to share my first Paris
experiences with you.

That's right...
my first experience was NOT
 the Eiffel Tower.

But this was a very
special moment for me.
I went to Paris
and found a bit of
 Marie Antoinette!

Bisous,
Edie Marie

Please stay tuned for much much more
to come on Paris. I want to share it all
with you dear friends!

SEWING WITH MY "SWEETIE GIRL"

My oldest Sweetie Girl
wanted to learn to sew.
She wanted to make her
doll, "Sunday", a new dress.

This was a sewing grandmother's
dream come true!!

So we looked through my
stash of fabrics and chose a
navy blue with scattered white
polk-a-dots. We found a perfect
little piece of trim that was a
strip of net rosettes.

We made a paper pattern
that we could reuse to make
more dresses. She thought it
a great idea!

Of course the first step of
learning to sew is mastering
how to sew by hand.

She did a great job!!

Sweetie Girl was so pleased
with her creation!

Sunday loves her new frock!

Grandma, Sweetie Girl, and Sunday
had a wonderful time together
sewing and chatting and learning.

What are you working on?

We'd love to hear about your
latest project!

Love & blessings,
Edie Marie
