the Southern Senior Magazine
is out! It has a wonderful 2 page
article in it about Marie's incredible
Whitmanville Christmas Village.
This new magazine has been
created for baby boomers by
Pearl River Communications.
It's a quarterly magazine that runs just
$16.00 per year. It can be delivered via mail
to your home by calling 601-798-4835.
I was so excited when I received a copy
of the magazine in the mail from Marie!

The article and photos are delightful and
remind me of magazines from my youth!

Here's some quotes from the article:
"Marie has been collecting Whitmanville for
"Marie has been collecting Whitmanville for
22 years. She started when her daughter bought
her the first piece, a ceramic train.
Then Marie got the fever!"
"The era of the Christmas Village is set in the
early 1900's. People still wore long dresses,
and they still had horse drawn carriages,
but they also had autos and airplanes."
"Whitmanville has a waterfront, or warehouse area,
then comes the shops, museums, restaurants, and
the township... City Hall, bank, churches and such."
The Carnival... Marie has most all the old
rides... even a Swan Boat ride."
"She also has a ski mountain."
"Next comes the zoo,
with monkeys, elephants, lions, tigers,
and bears... Oh My!!"
"Marie says it takes about a week to set
it up. She says she does have some help
from her daughter, Alexia Miller, and
one of her best friends, Diane Richard. "
"When asked about her favorite part of
Whitmanville, Marie says 'My favorite
part is the Nutcracker Ballet.' This is an
amazing piece. The ballerinas dance and
swirl around the stage gracefully. All
the girls love this piece!"
Marie's Whitmanville Christmas Village
has been a part of "Christmas on the Rails"
in Picayune, Mississippi for the past
couple of years. It has previously been located
at the Picayune Train Depot but is moving
this year to it's own location at
The Checkered Lily.
Fix yourself a cup of tea and
take a few minutes to look at this video
of Marie's village from 2013...
you'll be sooo glad you did.
It's even larger now since she adds
new pieces every year. The details
will amaze you!
Marie thanks the magazine from the
bottom of her heart for spreading the
news of her beautiful village.
Whitmanville Christmas Village
is a huge highlight of Picayune's "Christmas
on the Rails" event that dazzles and
delights ALL ages!
