CREATIONS BY MARIE ANTOINETTE & EDIE MARIE

Welcome to our Team Blog! Marie Antoinette & Edie Marie have joined together to create a fun place to share our ideas and lives with all of you. We know that our teaming up has been confusing for some of you and we apologize. We will refer to ourselves as Marie Antoinette (the Doll Creator & maker of fabulous items) who lives in Peacock Paradise and Edie Marie (the creator of the posts and story telling on this blog & amateur crafter of many things in my "attic") who lives on Golden Pond. What great fun we have combining our forces!!

Thank you for stopping by to see what's happening in our studios in Peacock Paradise and on Golden Pond!

TWEET, TWEET, TWEETLE-E-DEE!

I was walking through Kohl's a couple
weeks ago and as I was passing
the picture framing department
this birdcage memo holder reached out
and GRABBED me and said,
 "BUY ME LADY! I KNOW
YOU HAVE A PLACE FOR ME -
A PLACE TO CALL HOME!
JUST BUY ME LADY... PLEASE!!!"

Well I couldn't just keep walking
after that pitiful plea. ( That would be rude.)

Then I saw it...
a sign that had a halo around it...
50% OFF!!
 (Do I hear angels singing?)

And I had a 30% OFF savings if I
used my Kohl's charge... dare I?

The final price would end up being...
about $14.00??
(The whole choir of angels were singing now!)

I didn't give it a second thought -
Come to Mama!!
and into the cart it went.

 How could I resist?
Look at how functional it is for
important "notes"...

 for photos...

and for keepsakes, recipes & MORE!
(It says so!)

The little bird on top is free to fly
about whenever she wishes.

The birdcage came with a bunch of
wood clothespin clips but I knew I
needed more.

I had purchased a package from Michaels
that had 4 pink clothespins adorned with
rhinestones for $2 a package for another
project. But I wanted more of a challenge.
(Sure... let's make a project out of it instead
of just buying the ready made ones...
sometimes I wonder about myself.)

So I purchased packages of  4 clothespins
for $1 a package and a package of stick on
rhinestones (cheapies) and made a slew of them!

Oh there's nothing more fun than a
quick project with great rewards!
(That's what I keep telling myself.)

VOILA!
(I guess it was worth the effort.)

And so the little birdcage now lives
on my vintage cedar closet door
in my Studio
where it gives me direction
for my day...

and reminds me to stay in touch
with my favorite friends!

Everything is living in harmony
in my little Studio

Princesse de Lamballe's Presence Has Been Requested To Join the Queen & King For Tea

What a lovely spring day this is in Versailles.
The palace is all abuzz with
Ladies In Waiting dawning their new
spring frocks in lovely pastel shades,
fluttering about the great halls and venturing
outside to breathe the fresh spring air.
The rustle of taffeta, silk and light puffy voile
is so refreshing after
the dismal winter months.
The gentlemen in the palace are enjoying
this fresh display of lightheartedness

I have other other plans for this day.
You see today I have been requested
to join my royal friends,
Queen Marie & King Louie,
to enjoy tea with them, visit with them,
and spend the entire day with them

I love my dear friend, the Queen, and I just
know that after tea the King will retire from
our presence and we will join our other
dear friends Princesse de Elisabeth,
Princesse de Conti, the Duchesse de Chartres.
and several others
We will laugh and gossip and try on
the new hats the Queen has ordered from Paris.
My heart is all a flutter - I'm so excited!

Mlle Bertin creates such luscious hats
you could say they are "fit for a queen"!

Oh you can't imagine the fun we have
in the Queen's Royal Chambers!!

My gown was created by Mlle Bertin
and my beautiful Queen has gifted
me this delicious hat that she had
made as a surprise to match my gown.

How sweet my Marie is to do such
a special thing like this.
In her Royal Chambers the queen
whispered in my ear that she was troubled
and needed cheering up. She wanted to have her
friends close to her today.

The she told me in confidence that she had
a troubling dream last night. It was about
Mlle Bertin, putting ribbons on a garment
she was making for her and the beautiful
colored ribbons all turned black.

Somehow it saddened me.

What do you suppose it means??

DECORATING ON A BUDGET - THE FRENCH BENCH

I've had this Country French style
bench for several years and love the look
of the woven rush seats and all
the lovely curves.

But if you've ever had to sit on a
rush seat for any length of time you know
how hard the surface is!

If you need your derriere flattened just
sit on it and you'll find out pretty quick!

BEFORE

So I went in search for a new look
and a softer seat. I knew I'd have to
make it if I wanted to keep it affordable.

I found a wonderful heavy cotton duck
fabric at Hobby Lobby that was on sale...
 the price was right!
I LOVED the design!

I waited for Joanne's to have their
foam 50% off and bought a 3" depth
piece of foam , just thick enough
to keep a person from
having "pancake bottom"!

I also purchased ready made oyster color
piping for the edging. I've made my own piping
when necessary in the past but this was a real
time saver. I had a coupon that covered
part of the piping.  There's a Velcro fla
on the back edge so it can be
removed and laundered. Velcro was 40% off!
Woohoo!

AFTER

I love the look the new cushion achieves...
the color is very basic but the script is
so European and vintage looking.

Tres chic!

We need your help with something though.

Do you like our reused pillow covers with
the wild flowers on them or should I
make new muslin covers with some of
the popular "Frenchy" designs on them??

Look at some of the possibilities...

  (love this royal wienie)

(most designs from the Graphics Fairy)

Any thoughts on it?
Are there any designs or direction
you think we should go on this??
But if you think the reused pillow
covers are just as good we're calling this
project done !

Please leave you opinions. We LOVE to
hear what you think!

Thanks for stopping by and seeing
what we've been up to. There will be more bits
of  Decorating On A Budget to come

Blessings & hugs, Sherry & Marie
