My Past Due One Year Bloggiversary

Well, you know with all thats happened in May, I forgot all about my one yr blog annivarsary. I did my very first post on May 24, 2008. My but time sure flies by.

To celabrate this milestone, I am going to have a Grand Give Away, late but as they say A little late than never, Right!!! I will not tell you what it is, but I promise you it will be grand. Since I only post about every two weeks, I will begin today Sept 10, and end Sept 25th....

Just do as you always did, stop by for a visit and leave your comments on this post. I will then on Sept 25th have my grandson Courtland pick out your name from a big hat. I don't know anything about a online picker outer thingies...LOL. You'll just have to trust me.
**********************************************************************************
Here is my latest creation. Some of you saw these last year, and I do have some on Flicker and older post from last Christmas. For all my new friends, these are called Tree Angels. I did create them. They stand about 24 inches tall and do not come apart- are all of one piece. This is my first one for 2009. Her gown is a gold organza with snowflakes printed on it. The wings I made using the down of one of my white Peacocks....No I do not pluck the bird. I wait till I see them on the ground and save them up. During molting season they drop alot of them.

This is with the lights out.I'm not good at taking these kind of pics.
Anyway, I drape the gown over a 24 inch tree that I have lights on. When lit the lights glow though the organza. Its of course more beautiful in person. Sherry of Edie Marie's Attic can tell you just how pretty, cause when she visited me, I gave her one. I have been making several Christmas items, that I will show you a little at a time. Every one knows that I enjoy making Christmas creations more than anything else . Now here's a story....

My Tiny Tears Doll Story

A couple of posts back, I showed you the doll collection that was left to me from my dearest friend I ever had...Shannon. I recieved more dolls from her husband Butch. Here is the story.

Along time ago I had a two Tiny Tears dolls, when they first came out - one with the molded hair the the other the real hair. The one with hair, was lost in a move, I know that. The other I was able to save. Later In the early 60's I got one of the first Patty Play Pals also.

I'm telling you this part for a reason.

Years and years later, all grown up now. All of us married now. ..Shannon and Butch decided to move from New Orleans to Picayune. When I went to view their new home, I saw that it came with a barn. I love barns. I wanted to go in the loft. So I did. Lo and behold,I saw a big moldy doll. It was my Patty Play Pal. I knew it was mine cause Shannon never had one. How she got it will always be a mystery. I never ever told her I saw my doll in that loft. More years layer after her death, Butch is bringing me all the dolls. One of the dolls, I looked and looked.... Lo and behold, again it was my Tiny Tears doll. I know cause she never had one of those either, plus, I just knew my doll.

Of course it was moldy like the rest. I cleaned and removed the mold from her eyes. Then I knew for sure. It has the rare brown eyes. Its in pretty good condition. As you can see other than the discoloration of her face and hands, she's just fine. All her fingers, toes and ears fine. I'm going to try and buy the original bottles and clothes for her, then buy an old pram to put her in.

This is Shannon at different times in the 60's:

My old tiny Tears Doll
I'm telling you this story for another reason. My oldest brother paid me a surprise visit Labor Day. I haven't seen him in about a year. He is almost 70 years old. Way older than me. In the early 50's while he was at his after school job, I was in the bathroom using his toothbrush cleaning that very same Tiny Tears doll. He came in saw me. Was he ever mad. He took that toothbrush and proceeded to brush my teeth with it. It didn't really hurt, but it did make my mouth bleed. When he saw what he did, he grabbed me up and hugged me and told me over and over that he was sorry and that he loved me. Till this day he treats me like a child. You know how you sometimes give a child a dollar or two, he still will hand me money. Buddy I say, I don't need this, and he says, no you buy you something pretty. All my brothers do that to me till this very day, treat me like I'm still their baby sister. Yes I was spoiled by them. But most of my friends can't get over how close my brothers and I are. Oh...I have four remaing brothers left. My youngest brother died in the early eighty's. Buddy, Junior, Johnny and Michael. I love you brothers.

I hope all of you join in and celabrate my bloggiversary. I really do enjoy blogging with all of you. You have shown me friendship, love and concern. My heart goes out to all of you.

Love and kisses Marie Antionette

  2. Good heavens, that is an amazing and mysterious story of Shannon and the dolls. I am glad your Tiny Tears doll is back with you now, even if the "how" and "why" is never known!

I love your Christmas Angels. With the room lights off and the lights under the organza dress turned on, it would just look magical.

All my very large family but 3 have passed. I do miss my older brothers. You are right, we never grow up to them, and I was always just the tagalong little sister even when grown.

  10. Hi Marie, OH my sweet friend, I love this post. Happy Blogaverisary!! Your blog is lovely and reflects the wonderful person you are and your creative talents. I wish for you many more special posts.

I too had a tiny tears, but lost her long ago. I loved that doll. And I had a short hair patty playpal from the 60's. My little friend across the street had her's first and it was a long hair beauty. Mine had short red hair and I loved her so much. Somehow through the years she disappeared too. But, a few years ago we were in an antique shop and I saw one similar to mine with the short red hair. She was priced at 500 dollars. My gosh! Can you believe that. I did not buy her though. 500 is way too much. I miss her, but not that much. LOL!!

Nice to see the pics of your friend too. She looks so familiar to me. And, I love the story of you and your brother. I have family that used to give out a few dollars to us kids too. But it is very sweet to see that your brother still thinks of you as his little sister, because you are really! The family pic is very special. You look just the same with that gorgeous face, sweet smile and pretty hair.

Loved this post and again happy blogging!! Please add me to your giveaway. The angel is simply gorgeous!
    Hugs, Celestina Marie

  15. Bonjour Tone, Happy blogversary to you dear! You did a marvellous job making that tree angel. Do you upload your photos at maximum size? I wanted to magnify them, but I couldn't, which is too bad as I am sure the more detail I see the more pretty (even more pretty) they are! I want to email you back tonight, the weekends are always busy over here, ah every day is a busy day, I bet it's the same with you.
Your doll story is amazing and your family photo is too cute, you haven't changed a bit, still that beautiful, happy and friendly face, just keep it that way! Do you have a beauty secret that you want to share with us? I like to see those photos of Shanon too, it makes the dolls you sent me even more lively. Thanks again Toni, enjoy your blogversary and have a fab weekend!

Of course, in hind site I wish I still had her. I loved playing "house" and "school" and "store" with her when I was little. I have a friend who raises fowl (my baby chicks I am getting from him were born yesterday) and he saves his peacock and pheasant feathers for me that he finds on the ground. Your angel trees are fabulous! And please, I would love to be entered in your give-away. xo Lynn

  30. Hi Sweet Marie!!

What a wonderful post! I love the tiny tears story, how amazing. The old photo of you & your brothers is incredible!! You are so cute Marie! No wonder they want to give their little sister some "girl" $$ to buy somethin' pretty.

I sure can testify how beautiful your Christmas tree dolls are! They are gorgeous! the organza you use for the skirt just sparkles when the tree lights are on. They are so nicely done and very sturdy. I traveled with my doll from Picayune to Alabama, South Carolina, Virgina & NYC then to home to Ohio and it stayed perfectly fine!! Now that's sturdy! It will be a family heirloom for all our Christmases to come. Thank you for the treasure Marie!

Happy late Blogaversary and please enter me in your drawing!

  42. Hello my sweet friend...

I'm so glad I was able to stop by today for a visit and a chance to catch up on your posts. Your Tiny Tears Doll story was bittersweet to read... I'm very sorry for the loss of your girlfriend ~hug~ ... but how wonderful that you're able to own and love on some of her dolls ... I do believe that you'd enjoy spending some time in my attic ... most of my MIL's dolls are up there, and I'm sure that most are not in the best of shape ... Hopefully, one day, my Husband and I will be able to sort through them, but that's another story!

You know I loved seeing some of your latest creations ... the Angel Trees are awesome ... how magical they must look in the evenings ... I really love how you wait patiently to scoop up the soft down of your beloved peacocks ... no doubt they are grateful that you don't pluck them!

I also enjoyed learning more about your brothers in this post ... I think it's lovely that they still are spoiling you, as you should be!

Please accept my belated Congratulations on your one year Bloggiversary ... how exciting! It's amazing how swiftly time seems to pass by, isn't it?! And, of course, I'd love for a chance to win your give~away ... you're a dear to offer one ...

It's my hope 'n prayer that you're doing well ... may your days be filled with sweet blessings!

    ~hugs~

P.S. We only have two precious fuzzies with us now, as our beloved ferret, Spice, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge recently ... but, Cinnamon and Baby send their love your way, along with lots of teeny ferret kisses ♥

  74. Oh Marie, the story of you and your brothers and how they still treat you like a baby sister...is so sweet...brought tears to my eyes. What a sweet picture of you and your brothers. My mama had five brothers. I bet you and her could have some fun talks. She doesn't have a computer though. She's working on that..hopefully she'll get one soon. I think she'd love blogland.

Glad that you got your dolls back too...I bet you will have fun finding the clothes for them. That angel tree is so beautiful...you are so creative!

Please enter me in your surprise giveaway!
    Big Hugs,
    Queenie

P.S. About that blue thingy that you were asking about on my blog post. It's vanity jar...that's what it is...it's made by avon and they called them cream sachets and they once held perfume cream.
