Hello to all !
I wanted to show something new, for my first showing of my work. SO!!! Here goes!
I really don't have a name, for this vignette. I might go with Carousel Tent Doll or Theater Doll.
The concept is ...I wanted to have a theme going on, underneath her gown, sort of like a curtain parting to reveal its contents. I chose for my first time, a carousell theme.
Here is how I made it. I cut out two 12 in. diameter plaques.(Made with 1 by 12 ponderosa pine). Painted of course. I set the carousel pieces,Which I chose...The cutest little cherubs on carousel animals. Then I used an 8 in. dowel,(decorated first), I screwed a plaque to each end of the dowel .It looked like a wheel.
Then the gown.... which is 17 inches, in diameter. It took about 4 yards of fringe trim to go around, give or take a few...LOL. I placed the gown over the wheel.
Then ,I set the half doll, on top. In her right hand I placed a feathered fan, that I made. in her left hand, a carousel key.I saved the hardest part for last, and that was parting all that heavy material to reveal the carousel underneath.
All together she stands about 18 inches tall, with the gown it was hard to judge the diamter.
It really was fun to make, except when I started it ,I had know idea ,what I was doing.I played it mostly by ear. Since I haven't made a doll for awhile, Lets just say I made alot of mistakes...LOL...Burnt and pricked fingers. Hugs to all!

Hello Marie,
ReplyDeleteI found you through your comment on Sandra Evertson's blog. Your name caught my eye (of course!).
What a vignette, she is lovely. I read your profile, any fan of the old horror movies (House on Haunted Hill) and Aaron Neville has wonderful taste.
Can't wait to see your next creation.
